2026 Parent Contributions

Dear Pearcedale Primary School Parents and Carers,

As we look towards an exciting and productive 2026 school year, we would like to advise you of the voluntary financial contributions for next year.

Schools provide students with free instruction to fulfil the standard curriculum requirements, and we want to assure you that all contributions are voluntary. School Council aims to keep the cost of education as low as possible whilst at the same time, providing a curriculum which meets the high standards expected by the community.

School Council have set the Curriculum Contributions at $200.00 per student, with a discount offered for each subsequent child of $25.00.

To further support families making financial contributions to the school, School Council has introduced a Tax-Deductible Building Fund, a receipt for tax purposes is available in Compass (please refer to the guide attached). This fund enables families to make tax-deductible contributions to support renovations, upgrades and maintenance of school infrastructure.

We understand that the start of the school year can be an expensive time for families but would very much appreciate your favourable response to School Council’s request for parents to contribute to programs, facilities and resources.
Every contribution, no matter the size, helps us continue to offer an outstanding learning environment and enrich your child’s educational journey.

The generous support from families over the years has allowed us to enhance our programs, facilities and resources beyond the basics — creating an inspiring and nurturing environment for your children.

Your contribution will directly support:
•Providing all students with stationery and classroom resources
•Delivering high quality programs in English, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), Visual Art, Performing Arts, Inquiry Units, AUSLAN, PE and Health and Wellbeing
•Maintaining and upgrading our computer devices to support engaging digital learning
•Ensuring classroom and library resources are plentiful, fostering strong literacy skills
•Access to online subscriptions that support Literacy and Mathematics learning
•Efficient communication and payment systems via Compass
•Upkeep and improvement of the school buildings, grounds and playgrounds
•Organising whole school activities, celebrations and much more

How you can help your child at home

At Pearcedale Primary School, we believe that learning doesn’t stop at the school gate. Families play a vital role in supporting a child’s education, and there are many simple, effective ways you can help at home.

Create a routine: Children thrive on structure. Set aside regular times for reading, homework, and quiet play. A consistent routine helps children feel secure and ready to learn.

Encourage reading: Reading with your child every day, even for just 10–15 minutes, builds vocabulary, comprehension, and a love of books. Visit the local library together or let your child choose books that interest them.

Talk about their day: Take time to talk with your child about what they’re learning at school. Ask open-ended questions and show genuine interest in their experiences.

Support healthy habits: Ensure your child gets enough sleep, eats nutritious meals, and has time for active play. A healthy body supports a healthy mind.

Celebrate effort: Praise your child’s effort rather than just outcomes. This helps build confidence and resilience, encouraging them to keep trying—even when things are challenging.

Working together, we can help your child develop a lifelong love of learning. If you ever have questions or need ideas for home learning activities, please don’t hesitate to speak with your child’s teacher.

Keeping students safe online

At Pearcedale Primary School, student safety is our top priority—both in the classroom and online. As children increasingly use digital technologies for learning and communication, it’s important that they understand how to navigate the online world safely and responsibly.

We teach students about cyber safety through age-appropriate lessons and discussions that focus on key topics such as protecting personal information, recognising unsafe content, dealing with cyberbullying, and being respectful digital citizens. Our school follows the guidance of the eSafety Commissioner, Australia’s national leader in online safety education and support.

To protect students online, we use secure learning platforms and apply filters to block inappropriate content on school devices. Our staff receive regular training in digital safety and are proactive in guiding students on safe online behaviour.

Families also play a crucial role. We encourage parents and carers to talk with their children about how they use the internet at home and to set clear rules around screen time, social media, and gaming. Regular conversations help children feel confident in asking for help if something doesn’t seem right.

If you’d like more information or tips on keeping your child safe online, we recommend visiting www.esafety.gov.au. Together, we can help students build the skills they need to stay safe and thrive in the digital world.
